Clarks
The name Clarks is very significant. The town was platted in the fall of 1866, and named in honor of Silas H.H.Clarks, the superintendent of the Union Pacific Railroad. In the early days Clarks lacked only one vote of being selected as the state capitol according to C.E. Persinger in his book "A History of Merrick County".
